URA COFFEE

Located at No. 6, Lane 1160 Lang Street, Hanoi, Ura Coffee transforms a 30–40-year-old former office building into a tranquil garden cafe. Target customers include students, young adults, and local professionals. The design leverages site topography to establish engaging views for surrounding buildings while utilizing a garden featuring a natural stream to create a refined retreat for coffee and relaxation.

Design Concept

Derived from "Eureka!", the name "Ura" symbolizes the discovery of a peaceful urban sanctuary. The concept blends nostalgic traditional roof structures with rustic garden elements rooted in Asian vernacular culture. Adopting the principle of "heritage soul in a modern framework," the project reinterprets familiar raw nuances through a refined contemporary architectural lens.

Space Layout & Experience

The layout is structured into indoor, semi-outdoor, and outdoor zones across the 1st and 3rd floors, anchored by a central courtyard with a small stage. Intuitive circulation uses coffee-bean motifs to guide guests to the ordering bar. Vaulted curves expand sightlines toward natural greenery, while flattering color schemes and seasonal landscaping deliver an engaging visual experience.

Details & Materials

The project highlights raw materials such as random slate and Thanh Hoa black stone. Warm native earth tones are achieved through decorative bricks, timber, textured plaster, and handcrafted bamboo ceiling panels. The signature highlight is an authentic running stream in the rear courtyard, combined with dense flora to create a serene microclimate insulated from urban noise.
